A BIT ABOUT THERAPY
As a Psychotherapist, I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among clients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and caretaker alike. But in the end, making small changes in self-defeating behavior and in feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results - and with my services, I will help you achieve just that. My services are personalized to suit everyone’s needs, and I go the extra mile to provide you with all the tools you need to recover and re-frame things.

TELL ME ABOUT DURATION, LOCATION AND STARTING THERAPY SESSIONS?
Sessions with me are 50 minutes long, and start out weekly. I normally work both from my Calm Cabin at my home practice in Shoeburyness and online but currently all sessions are now online. You can attend sessions with me from most countries worldwide, but please note this will be in GMT UK time zone.
For in person: The cabin location is under ten minutes drive from Southend. Sessions, when face to face, are held in a relaxing, and private log cabin surrounded by trees. In an initial session you have a chance to meet me and work out if you want to start visiting regularly. It is a non-pressured space to tell me what's going on and get an idea of what working with me will be like.
Online sessions take place at my cyber counselling room which is easy to access via a webpage, from any device, and is 100% confidential. Session fees are taken 24 hours in advance via bank transfer.
DO YOU OFFER REDUCED RATES?
The cost of your therapy session is £45 for 50 minutes. I offer a reduced rate of £35 for students in training, those in receipt of benefits, or with low incomes. We can talk about this at your initial session or on the telephone / via email on booking .
DO YOU USE FREUDIAN OR JUNGIAN ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES?
I use a psychotherapuetic approach, which means that I will draw on a number of modes of working. There will be some analysis at the heart of our work, which will allow you to have time and space to reflect on yourself and your life. Equally there will be an emphasis on how your personal conditioning, and the situations which arise in your life now, may have been shaped by your childhood. I use adult sandplay therapy a lot in my sessions, and this is something you may want to try.
WHAT MIGHT A TYPICAL THERAPY SESSION LOOK LIKE?
You are at the centre of all our work together, so we will always begin with what you bring into the session as our starting point. From here, I may bring in some space to reflect more deeply on where some of these feelings first arose. I also offer Jungian Sandplay, so you may want to create a tray, or at times we may look at your dreams. I will frequently offer you some guided visualisation to deepen our work together.
Whilst online, we may use the share screen function to look at psychology information sheets, and I will also email these to you. Guided visualisation and active imagination is also used online.
WHAT OTHER TECHNIQUES, OR STRATEGIES DO YOU USE?
You may hear me use the terms inner child, or inner critic, these are based on the idea that we have a number of different selves operating, and the belief is that when we can integrate the many aspects of ourselves, we can end self-sabotaging behaviours, and become more harmonious, self-respecting and happier. These phrases came originally from both the Freudian and Jungian maps of the psyche, and have been transformed into other successful modes of therapy, one of such is called Transactional Analysis. I may also introduce these ideas, if I feel it could be helpful for you. At times we may also review your "thinking behaviours" which may incorporate CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), equally, with a focus toward exploring your core beliefs. These techniques can assist you with developing self-awareness about unhelpful, and potentially, false ideas about yourself and the world. Creating room for open evaluation, can bring great freedom and heightened potential into your life.
WHY DO PEOPLE CONSIDER COUNSELLING?
Therapy may be useful at a number of times in our lives. Mainly, we know that we may need some help working through a situation, when we are feeling overwhelmed, unable to manage our emotions, or our thoughts, and our life starts to stop being such a peaceful, or happy place to exist. It's totally normal for this to happen, and there is generally always a reason for it, some causes are obvious, and some take more time to appear. There should be no shame in seeking professional help, because you are in fact, being sensible, and wise to give yourself some help to figure things out. Sadly as a society, there is still some stigmas we face around our mental health, but one person at a time, we can do our bit to work on ourselves, and take care of all levels of our being, not just the physical. Entering therapy is not a failure, it is a whole new horizon beckoning you.

The types of issues I can help you work through are wide reaching, and the best way to see if you think I can help you, is to arrange an initial visit. Some examples of the difficulties that people I see may face are: anxiety, depression, stress, childhood trauma, inlcuding complex ptsd, OCD, loss, lack of purpose, life changes, divorce, health fears / issues, low self-esteem, self-sabotage, general insecurities, and being stuck in overwhelming feelings such as fear, loneliness, sadness or anger. Sometimes people just want to develop a better relationship with themselves, and learn how to live feeling more harmonious with a mindful stance. There is always a reason for why you feel the way you do right now, and it's my job to help you make sense of things so that you can move into a different landscape. This may take time, and some effort on your part, but if you want to heal, or change, it is entirely possible, I assure you, no matter what you are facing.
